Speed Painting

Quite amazing indeed. Can be found @YouTube.

I was always amazed when watching Bob Ross Joy of Painting too.

To transpose an image from ones mind to canvas, a gift indeed.

But wait, there's more, this time a little humor.

The top cartoon says it all about these doofuss double standard lawbreakers!

Winding down the week here on Friday, was an interesting one don't you think?

Remains to be seen what Congress will do after the July 4th recess, could waffle and fold or stand up.

Their political futures are on the line, the whole country is watching.

Oh yea, thanks Alan!

WASHINGTON - President Bush, moving toward a constitutional showdown with Congress, asserted executive privilege Thursday and rejected lawmakers' demands for documents that could shed light on the firings of federal prosecutors.

Bush's attorney told Congress the White House would not turn over subpoenaed documents for former presidential counsel Harriet Miers and former political director Sara Taylor.

"With respect, it is with much regret that we are forced down this unfortunate path which we sought to avoid by finding grounds for mutual accommodation," White House counsel Fred Fielding said in a letter to the chairmen of the House and Senate Judiciary Committees. "We had hoped this matter could conclude with your committees receiving information in lieu of having to invoke executive privilege. Instead, we are at this conclusion."

KNOCK! KNOCK! Executive privilege does not mean anything if a crime has been committed, as Joathan Turley explained on Countdown:

"Both sides, both Democrats and Republicans, have avoided this sort of pig in the parlor," Turley continued. "They don't want to recognize that this president may have ordered criminal offenses. But they may now be on the road to do that, because the way Congress can get around the executive privilege in court is to say, we're investigating a potential crime."

"This administration, I have to say, has a certain contempt for the law," said Turley. "They treat it like some of my criminal defendents used to treat it. ... They come up with any argument that might work. ... It's a sort of shocking development. ... But at the end of the day, they will lose, and they're making the situation worse."

Well if anyone can make a situation worse, it would be the bozo's in the WH.

Go right ahead chimp and be an obstinate fool, you will like jail and we will like you being there.

Coultergeist Biach

Dear Den,

Last night I had an important talk with Ann Coulter and I want to tell you what happened.

On Monday, Ann announced that instead of using more homophobic slurs to attack John, she will just wish that John had been "killed in a terrorist assassination plot."

Where I am from, when someone does something that displeases you, you politely ask them to stop. So when I heard Ann was going to be on "Hardball" last night, I decided to call in and ask her to engage on the issues and stop the personal attacks. I told her these kinds of personal attacks lower our political dialogue at precisely the time when we need to raise it, and set a bad example for our children.

How did she respond? Sadly, perhaps predictably, with more personal attacks.

John's campaign is about the issues—but pundits like Ann Coulter are trying to shout him down. If they will not stop, it is up to us cut through the noise. Help us fight back—please give what you can today.

There are just over 3 days left to hit our $9 million goal for the end of the quarter. If we make it, we can directly reach voters in Iowa, New Hampshire, and all over the country with our detailed plans on the issues that matter. Please give what you can right now to help raise the dialogue and show that Ann Coulter-style politics will never carry the day.

Why do Ann Coulter and other right-wing pundits keep attacking John? Because John's bold, specific plans hit them where it hurts: solving global warming, ending the war, building a fair economy—John's agenda threatens everything these talking heads and their corporate cronies stand for.

And they know John can win—just last week a new poll showed that John is the only Democratic candidate who beats all the possible Republican challengers—by an average of 13 points. So they are trying to take John down early. Their strategy is to sling mud and manufacture scandals—about houses, haircuts and anything else they can think of—to discredit John and take down our movement for change.

The best way to beat them is also the right way—take our message of substance straight to the voters. And that is exactly what this campaign is all about.

But we need your help to hit our goal. Please give what you can today.

And thank you for all that you do to support this cause.

What evil spawn is the she-devil Coulter? which end of the devil did she emerge.

I have no respect at all for Tweety and his "she sells books". MSNBC ought to pull him and drop him in the same bucket as Imus for being a reprehensible media shill for the Reich Wing and sponsoring irresponsible journalism.

What does this teach our children? Wishing someone dead on national TV is OK?

What's next? will the biach arm herself and try to take out Edwards?

Giving air time to pure psychos, MSNBC has proven their worth among the rest of the media,

about 25 cents.

Heroe's Revisited

In the past heroes have been known by their ability to rise above the frey and rescue people from burning homes, saving flood victims as with the Katrina disaster or in general helping others survive an otherwise fatal situation.

Today we have a fatal situation facing the entire country.

Our United States Constitution is near death. Dying from a neo-con assault, attempted murder on the backbone of our democracy.

All our forefathers had established to ensure our democracy flourishes is in danger of being wiped out and replaced with a fascist regime who's' only intent is to further the profit making potential of mega-corporations and enslave the American people to them.

Who among us has the strength to overcome this assault?

Right now the fascist dictator Bush and his minions are working hard to make sure you do not know what they are doing. This Administration which is the most secretive since the Nixon era
is infiltrating the depths of government to ensure they can gain complete control of all aspects of the government, witnessed by the dismantling of the EPA, the FCC, the US Forest Service and many others, essentially nullifying any rules that would interfere with their goal of domination.

This authoritarian regime has rendered pollution laws intended to keep us safe, moot.
The Congress has proven they are completely incapable of stopping this abuse of power and have basically rubber stamped every bill requested to accomplish the Administrations goals.

The Administration has started an unjustified war against a sovereign nation, Iraq, to further the mega-oil corporations agenda of world oil conquest. President Bush has declared the Constitution a "goddamn piece of paper" Now an illegal assault on Iran seems entirely possible, even with an obvious lack of support worldwide.

This assault on the core values of America continues unabated and without mercy.

Who will be the hero/heroes? Will it be you?

(From DWF's inaugural post Oct 5 2006)

My early pontification visits the hero realm.

Are heroes even possible in today's world?

Or do heroes negate the need for action on the peoples part, mainly hoping that someone else will do the job for us?

There are leaders and there are followers, which are you?

Cruel and Usual

Cheney and his allies, according to more than two dozen current and former officials, pioneered a novel distinction between forbidden "torture" and permitted use of "cruel, inhuman or degrading" methods of questioning. They did not originate every idea to rewrite or reinterpret the law, but fresh accounts from participants show that they translated muscular theories, from Yoo and others, into the operational language of government.

A backlash beginning in 2004, after reports of abuse leaked out of Iraq's Abu Ghraib prison and Guantanamo Bay, brought what appeared to be sharp reversals in courts and Congress -- for both Cheney's claims of executive supremacy and his unyielding defense of what he called "robust interrogation."

But a more careful look at the results suggests that Cheney won far more than he lost. Many of the harsh measures he championed, and some of the broadest principles undergirding them, have survived intact but out of public view.

Revelations of the sinister cruelty and power mongering that is Dick Cheney.

This thug is not a member of the human race, he is sub-human pond scum.

Sunny Sunday

Another week of serious political insanity is ahead. The waters are getting ever more muddy in the nations capitol with serious challenges such as stopping the Iraq meatgrinder and a runaway Administration badly in need of reeling in.

Congress cannot be depended on to enforce their oversight power in time to save us from being taken into the fascist realm, rather they too seem to be 'lost' in the sea of lobby cash and refuse to heed the desires of the American people to end the run-a-muk madness and restore their faith in government.

Rather odd, no protests, no outcry, simple silence and the constant sound of internal combustion demanding to be fed, at $3 a gallon.

Pitiful and strange.

Saturday Again

Guess which one is the President.

I just wish it was funny. The latest on the 'untouchables' says they are not accountable to anyone, immune to oversight and generally telling the entire country, The Constitution, The Bill of Rights, and every law ever written to "go fuck yourself" as Deadeye once blurted.

Essentially we are being taken over by criminals of the worst kind, rich ones. So rich, not even the law pertains to them, they don't need no stinking laws! They ARE the law.

And so it goes.

Administration Oversight

Vice President Exempts His Office from the Requirements for Protecting Classified Information

The Oversight Committee has learned that over the objections of the National Archives, Vice President Cheney exempted his office from the presidential order that establishes government-wide procedures for safeguarding classified national security information. The Vice President asserts that his office is not an “entity within the executive branch.”

As described in a letter from Chairman Waxman to the Vice President, the National Archives protested the Vice President's position in letters written in June 2006 and August 2006. When these letters were ignored, the National Archives wrote to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales in January 2007 to seek a resolution of the impasse. The Vice President's staff responded by seeking to abolish the agency within the Archives that is responsible for implementing the President's executive order.

In his letter to the Vice President, Chairman Waxman writes: "I question both the legality and wisdom of your actions. ... [I]t would appear particularly irresponsible to give an office with your history of security breaches an exemption from the safeguards that apply to all other executive branch officials."

A fact sheet prepared by Chairman Waxman describes other instances in which the Vice President's office has sought to avoid oversight and accountability.

@ Committee on Government Oversight and Reform

Guess that means any claim of "Executive Privilege" by Deadeye Dick would be moot.

Can't have it both ways there Dickie Boy.

What a clusterfuck of sinister bullshit this Administration has put out since 2000.

They make the rules, we get screwed, impeachment anyone?

Scull &Boneheads

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) _ Legend has it that Yale University's ultrasecret Skull and Bones society swiped the remains of American Indian leader Geronimo nearly a century ago from an Army outpost in Oklahoma.

Now, Geronimo's great-grandson wants the remains returned.

Harlyn Geronimo, 59, of Mescalero, N.M., wants to prove the skull and bones purportedly taken from a burial plot in Fort Sill, Okla., are indeed those of his great-grandfather. They're now said to be in a stone tomb that serves as the club's headquarters.

If they are proven to be those of Geronimo, his great-grandson wants them buried near the Indian leader's birthplace in southern New Mexico's Gila Wilderness.

"He died as a prisoner of war, and he is still a prisoner of war because his remains were not returned to his homeland," Harlyn Geronimo said. "Presently, we are looking for a proper consecrated burial."

Harlyn Geronimo grew up hearing stories about his great-grandfather and other Apache warriors who fought the Mexican and U.S. armies.

After their families were captured and sent to Florida, Geronimo and 35 warriors surrendered to Gen. Nelson A. Miles near the Arizona-New Mexico border in 1886. Geronimo was eventually sent to Fort Sill, where he died of pneumonia in 1909.

If the bones at Yale aren't those of Geronimo, Harlyn Geronimo believes they belonged to one of the Apache prisoners who died at Fort Sill. He said they should still be returned.

Harlyn Geronimo wrote last year to President Bush, seeking his help in recovering the bones. He thought that since the president's grandfather, Prescott Bush, was allegedly one of those who helped steal the bones in 1918, the president would want to help return them.

But, Harlyn Geronimo said, "I haven't heard a word."

The White House did not respond to messages seeking comment.

President Bush and his father, former President George H.W. Bush, both attended Yale and joined the elite club. Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry, the Democratic presidential nominee in 2004, is also a Bonesman, as are many other men in powerful government and industry positions.

@ Newsday

So here we have a grandson of an idiot thief with the audacity to think they have some right to someone else's skeletal remains for their kinky little fraternity, isn't that precious.

Defending his granddaddy's honor W chooses to ignore the request of a direct descendant of Geronimo to have the remains examined and determine if they are really Geronimo's or not.

Same story different day for the bunch of alien assholes that just happen to have held the Presidency twice and fed Hitler money during WWII. These Bushes need to be trimmed!

Feeding Nazis, stealing artifacts, starting illegal wars, this Bush bunch has a history of
UN-AMERICAN actions going back almost 90 years. These people are gangsters plain and simple, worse than the normally thought of Sopranos type gangsters. They have left a trail of death numbering in the thousands through the years, yet there are those (Bushies) that worship the ground these thugs walk on, now they want to run the world?

Tar and feathers are way to good for these gangsters, public hanging is not.

Geronimos' words:

"I was warmed by the sun, rocked by the winds and sheltered by the trees as other Indian babes. I was living peaceably when people began to speak bad of me. Now I can eat well, sleep well and be glad. I can go everywhere with a good feeling.

The soldiers never explained to the government when an Indian was wronged, but reported the misdeeds of the Indians. We took an oath not to do any wrong to each other or to scheme against each other.

I cannot think that we are useless or God would not have created us. There is one God looking down on us all. We are all the children of one God. The sun, the darkness, the winds are all listening to what we have to say.

When a child, my mother taught me to kneel and pray to Usen for strength, health, wisdom and protection. Sometimes we prayed in silence, sometimes each one prayed aloud; sometimes an aged person prayed for all of us... and to Usen.

I was born on the prairies where the wind blew free and there was nothing to break the light of the sun. I was born where there were no enclosures."

No wonder the White Man feared him, he spoke truth.

Media Magpie

Granted I should have shown the bird carrying a Buck Fush protest sign but they are missing a vital ingredient, hands.

As I sit here with my small cup of coffee thinking about what the hell to write, it dawned on me, I have become a propagandist tool of the media, repeating what is newly written by a famous reporter for the explicit purpose of depositing such fine words right here for all to read.

I could post the Glenn Greenwalds new book or or ABC News latest bit of fear instilling propaganda on suicide bombers.

Or simply post the weather report.

In any case it comes to the thoughts of what is really important to post, what others are saying, or what I am saying. Today it is all about what I am saying.

As I read the news(or what passes for it nowadays) the stories I read are filled with pain and sadness, profound pain and sadness, the kind of pain and sadness that makes one question his/her place in this twisted world of seemingly unbridgeable grief.

Humanity through the use of fossil fuel is on the verge of suffocation from the after effects, while religious psychotics threaten to annihilate themselves for 42 promised virgins.

There is nothing in either picture giving any hope whatsoever that we as a species are improving anything, rather just the opposite, we are destroying everything we can at a record pace, including ourselves.

To me this makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Why the constant destruction? Why force the inevitable, death. Why?

Is it a product of the human genome to destroy rather than improve? Or is this a learned behavior passed through teaching, religious or otherwise, that sets our course of death and destruction.

The 21st Century, 2100 years of human calendars documenting the passage of humanities destructive path and no end in sight.

I might as well continue the Magpie routine.

Monday, Monday!

Taguba was met at the door of the conference room by an old friend, Lieutenant General Bantz J. Craddock, who was Rumsfeld’s senior military assistant. Craddock’s daughter had been a babysitter for Taguba’s two children when the officers served together years earlier at Fort Stewart, Georgia. But that afternoon, Taguba recalled, “Craddock just said, very coldly, ‘Wait here.’ ” In a series of interviews early this year, the first he has given, Taguba told me that he understood when he began the inquiry that it could damage his career; early on, a senior general in Iraq had pointed out to him that the abused detainees were “only Iraqis.” Even so, he was not prepared for the greeting he received when he was finally ushered in.

“Here . . . comes . . . that famous General Taguba—of the Taguba report!” Rumsfeld declared, in a mocking voice. The meeting was attended by Paul Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld’s deputy; Stephen Cambone, the Under-Secretary of Defense for Intelligence; General Richard Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (J.C.S.); and General Peter Schoomaker, the Army chief of staff, along with Craddock and other officials. Taguba, describing the moment nearly three years later, said, sadly, “I thought they wanted to know. I assumed they wanted to know. I was ignorant of the setting.”

In the meeting, the officials professed ignorance about Abu Ghraib. “Could you tell us what happened?” Wolfowitz asked. Someone else asked, “Is it abuse or torture?” At that point, Taguba recalled, “I described a naked detainee lying on the wet floor, handcuffed, with an interrogator shoving things up his rectum, and said, ‘That’s not abuse. That’s torture.’ There was quiet.”

Happy Fathers Day to all that are Fathers, excluding Catholic priests of course, who are 'Fathers' but different.

Try not to think about politics today, instead concentrate on making old Dad the happiest man on the planet for one day. My two kids are 2000 miles away so my spoilage is only a dream.

I'ts not easy being different, theres the yard work and stuff needs doing, this father has to mow the lawn.

Maybe I could temporarily adopt a neighbor kid, scratch that, they would probably steal me blind.

Ho Hum.

Under scrutiny by certain unscrupulous characters, or merely a "glitch" in a vast server system.

There are several "unknown IP's" listed in my SiteMeter logs, been there for some time, lurking in the darkness of internet anonymity. You can see them too by clicking on the SiteMeter logo.

Who are they and why are they trying to be invisible? Yesterday someone managed to abscond with one of my comments relating to that very subject. So I wonder, but no longer care if there are "G-men" snooping around. Who cares! Life is too short to bother with busy-body authoritarians trying to make up for the diminutive size of their "man parts" by interfering with Free Speech.

What is happening to my America? Where have the "Good Folks" gone?

Is everything an exercise in fascist power? The rules have changed, we are no longer "Safe".

We are targets of power.

Michael Moore, whose film "Sicko" criti- cizes health care industry profits, joins hundreds of members of the California Nurses Association Tuesday on the steps of the Capitol. Sacramento Bee/Randall Benton

Michael Moore, the filmmaker and provocateur, rode to the Capitol on Tuesday, delivering impassioned -- and sharply barbed -- pleas for guaranteed health care.

He was embraced by throngs who bestowed on him the kind of hoopla usually given a rock star.

It was an opportunity for Moore to promote "Sicko," his latest film to take a jab at a powerful American institution. This time: the health care industry.

"There is no room for the concept of profits when taking care of people when they are sick," Moore told a crowd of nearly a thousand nurses who swarmed the west steps of the Capitol.

@ The Sacramento Bee

Of course this is not solving the current political dilemma with the current Administration but it is a very important subject indeed.

Why should your health care concerns be subject to a "is it profitable to fix her/him" analysis?

Whether you live or die today in the hospital is not up to you to decide, it is up to the HMO's and their "for profit" mentality.

There is that nasty evil Repug "PROFIT" word again. Where Repugs go, profits are soon to follow as evidenced by the severe trade imbalance and now the Medical Industry.

Yes Medical INDUSTRY. Any time you have profit to make you have industry of some sort, clothing, appliance, health care, industry.

The question Michael asks is "should medical care be a for profit industry, should the Fire Dept, be a for profit industry? OR any other public service for that matter.

Privatizing of health care was done at the behest of none other than John Erlichman and his fellow repug crook Richard Nixon in 1972 from Michaels' site
"Moore unearths 1971 White House tapes in which President Nixon and John Ehrlichman discussed the pending bill to promote managed care. Ehrlichman reassures Nixon that "all the incentives are toward less medical care ... because the less care they give 'em, the more money they make."

Repugs in action after the 'Almighty Dollar', since then the price of health care in this country has skyrocketed as the cost of doing business has also risen in an attempt to make even more profits for the greedy bastards.

Well money won't cure you if you are sick, but without it you will not get well.

Illness is the single highest reason for bankruptcy in the US today because of the "for profit" mentality of greedy corporations who incidentally do not give a rats ass about you if you don't give them money first.

What a country!

The Blues

Steve Hatch holds a rare blue lobster that he and his uncle Robert Green caught Sunday, June 10, 2007 in a trap at the mouth of the Thames River in New London, Conn. The two donated the lobster to the Mystic Aquarium and Institute of Exploration where it will be used in one of the aquarium's classrooms. The blue coloring is the result of a genetic defect and only occurs in one out of every 3 million lobsters, according to Catherine Ellis, the aquarium's curator of fish and invertebrates. The aquarium also has two other blue lobsters. (AP Photo/The Day,Milton Moore) **

Wow! A blue critter in nature.

Think of how many critters that you know are blue.........times up! Not many other than birds.

Blue cows? Blue pigs? Blue elephants? Nope! A rare critter indeed.

Rare also is the concern for the goings on in Iraq right now.

I have been attempting to figure out why the average Joe just plain does not give a shit.

We in the US live in an isolated world separate from the rest of the world. A land of plenty and room to move around where ever we please if we can afford it.

Over the years we have become used to this arrangement and as long as it continues we will continue to believe we have nothing to worry about, nothing can stop us from doing what we want to do when we want to do it, we are self-important and very spoiled.

Look at a spoiled child and how he relates to the world around him. As long as nothing interferes with his existence, he will continue to believe he is the center of his own universe, no matter what occurs outside his narrow view.

We have become like this spoiled child, comfortable, complacent, and indifferent to the happenings of the world. 9/11 thrust us into the world and collective sadness rained down upon us like it did with Pearl Harbor.

What was the first thing we did after 9/11? Seek vengeance upon those that would disturb our existence of course.

Until then we will continue to do nothing except get along in our little world of imaginary bliss, not wanting to be disturbed by menial things like troop loss and foreign blood being shed daily in Iraq.

That is of course until.......

The Bees Again

The joke may have fallen flat, but this time no one could blame Bill Maher. Sure, it happened on the May 4, 2007 installment of his show Real Time With Bill Maher, but CNN personality and senior medical correspondent Sanjay Gupta was the one delivering the punch line, and it seems he was the only one in the room who believed the issue of Earth's mysteriously vanishing honeybees was a joke. And while some may argue that he stayed on message, promoting his May 19 documentary called Danger: Poison Food, he nevertheless fumbled for answers when Maher asked him about what could be killing a major component of the nation's food supply.

"Gosh, I don't know," Gupta answered, searching for context. "The -- you know, with regards to bees in particular, I'm not sure what's killing the bees. I'm not sure what's killing the birds or the bees."

Cue the laugh track.

In Gupta's defense, a few weeks or months ago, the increasing disappearance of the honeybees, known now by the technical term Colony Collapse Disorder, had that feel of an urban legend, a phenomenon so esoteric and strange that it sounded like something out of science fiction. Except it's not: It's a frightening trend that, according to those hard at work at solving the problem at universities and organizations worldwide, could lead to everything from a radically transformed diet to an overall wipeout of the world's food supply.

@ Alternet

This problem is NOT going away. It will soon be bigger than Paris Hilton on the news because it involves humanity's very survival.

Or is it already too late?

No Sparks!

Greetings everyone! Spose you are wondering where I have been today.

Well I have been without electricity. Here at work I post a new post before work starts early but the main electrical box out back caught on fire last Friday. I thought they would have it up and running by Monday but apparently the building owners were too cheap to pay overtime, so they did not even start till 8:30 this AM.

The absence of the stuff that makes everything run was noticable.

The picture above is a Tesla Coil producing electricity through the air and was the pioneer to the recently announced MIT experiment meant to charge batteries in portable devices without wires by tuning in a resonance, well let THESE FOLKS explain it.

And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear,
Now it's time to leave the capsule if you dare

This is Major Tom to ground con-trol, I'm stepping through the door
And I'm floating in the most peculiar way
And the stars look very different today

For here am I sitting in a tin can, far above the world
Planet Earth is blue and there's nothing I can do

Though I'm passed one hundred thousand miles, I'm feeling very still
And I think my spaceship knows which way to go,
tell my wife I love her very much she knows

Ground control to Major Tom:
Your circuit's dead, there's something wong.
Can you hear me Major Tom?
Can you hear me Major Tom?
Can you hear me Major Tom? Can you ...

Here am I floating round my tin can, far above the moon
Planet Earth is blue and there's nothing I can do.

Funny Boy George doing his best to ensure the "little people" perish properly.

From Letterman:

Top Ten President Bush Global Warming Solutions. link
10. Instead of "Partly sunny," have weatherman say "Partly cloudy."
9. Stop using Air Force One for Texas barbecue runs.
8. Replace dangerous CO2 in the atmosphere with more eco-friendly CO1.
7. Encourage people to walk more by distributing free Dr.Scholl massaging gel inserts. Are you gellin'?
6. Watch Al Gore movie one of these nights instead of "Dukes of Hazzard."
5. Bob Barker's free. Get him workin' on it.
4. Send more troops to Iraq.
3. I dunno, tax cuts for the rich?
2. Reduce hot air emissions by cancelling "The View."
1. Resign

. . . God created Republicans in His image. I know because they all said so in last night’s Republican debate when Wolf Blitzer asked about Biblical creation versus evolution (watch CNN’s Huckabee and Brownback videos). They seemed to agree with Mike Huckabee’s explanation that he’s not sure when this divine creation happened, or how long it took, but none confessed any doubt that it really happened.

Creationism can be imposed in schools, while An Inconvenient Truth or Sagan’s Cosmos can be banned, as long as it’s done, as McCain suggested, by local governments. Romney bravely insisted that no one was going to separate him from his Book of Mormon, but only Ron Paul seemed to understand that the supremely secular 1st Amendment was the inspired principle that protected Mitt from the Romans.

Given the original perfection of Eden, it logically follows that Democrats weren’t there at the beginning; I suspect they evolved later, after the fall, though it’s possible Tancredo and Brownback think they’re just aliens from somewhere, and we should weed out the ones with brown skin that don’t speak English before they pollute America’s precious bodily fluids. But despite their darker than God-like nature, Democrats are still expected to be persons of faith and to be explicit about the role God plays in their lives and prospective administrations.

I watched the highlights, or should I say LOWlights of the repug buffoons at work trying to convince whomever will listen that it they and they alone that can bring righteousness back into politics.

Must be nice to be endowed with the wisdom of the ages. The Dems just do not have it according to this bunch of goombahs. Most if not all want to NUKE Iran, yup nuke-em.

With this bunch you will get the SSDD and it will not be pretty.

The night was about bashing the chimp in an effort to elevate themselves to.....
the same level.

It was ugly.

Three real-world issues justify this approach: (1) The ever increasing pressure on rural land users to generate sufficient income from their land with decreasing market prices for food; (2) the necessity to provide sustainable production systems that minimize on- and off-site pollution and soil degradation; and (3) the demand for solutions to global warming.

While food prices do not increase sufficiently enough to ensure healthy farm economies without subsidies in many industrialized countries, energy prices increase at unprecedented rates. Within the past two years, gas and diesel prices increased by 150% (DOE, 2005). In contrast, the proportion of a household income spent for food decreased from 21% in 1950 to 10% in 2000 (ERS, 2005). One strategy to resolve this dilemma for farmers is to engage in energy production over the long term in addition to food production in order to diversify income. Several different strategies for land-based bio-energy production exist that build on modern biomass technology (in contrast to traditional biomass, UNDP 2004). The underlying principle is usually the sustainable land-based production of an energy crop or the use of waste biomass (also animal manures!) and the conversion into bio-fuels by various mechanisms. Possible avenues for producing bio-fuels from biomass are ethanol production through microbial fermentation, extraction of oils from crops, pyrolysis and gasification of biomass (Caputo et al., 2005). Farmers have begun to understand the economic opportunities associated with bio-energy. This proposal introduces an emergent strategy of combining energy production using modern biomass with land application of bio-char which is a residue from the energy production that has multiple environmental benefits.

The proposed technology is low-temperature pyrolysis that yields bio-oil, hydrogen or directly electricity as the energy carrier (including valuable co-products), with bio-oil being the more advanced and more wide-spread technology (Meier and Faix 1999; Bridgwater et al. 2002). The biomass feedstock may include a wide variety of biomass (Yaman 2004) such as wood chips or pellets, bark, crop residues such as nut shells or rice husks, and grass residues such as bagasse from the sugarcane industry. More importantly, however, planted energy crops can be used with the sole purpose of producing bio-fuels, such as short-rotation woody plants (e.g. willow), grasses (e.g. Miscanthus spp.), or herbaceous plants. The key for securing environmental benefits is the production of a bio-char by-product during pyrolysis which can be applied to soil.

Inspired by the fascinating properties of Terra Preta de Indio, bio-char is a soil amendment that has the potential to revolutionize concepts of soil management. While "discovered" may not be the right word, as bio-char (also called charcoal or biomass-derived black carbon, recently in context of agricultural application also named agri-char) has been used in traditional agricultural practices as well as in modern horticulture, never before has evidence been accumulating that demonstrates so convincingly that bio-char has very specific and unique properties that make it stand out among the opportunities for sustainable soil management.

The benefits of bio-char rest on two pillars:
1- The extremely high affinity of nutrients to bio-char
2- The extremely high persistence of bio-char

These two properties (which are truly extraordinary - see details below) can be used effectively to address some of the most urgent environmental problems of our time:
1- Soil degradation and food insecurity
2- Water pollution from agro-chemicals
3- Climate change

"Soils with bio-char additions are typically more fertile, produce more and better crops for a longer period of time."

Monday, Monday!

Is there a Botanist in the house? Pretty Spring flower

Oh the solitude and serenity, Ahhhhh!

Back to work for some of us, others, enjoy your freedom to do what you please.

Meanwhile the world turns on. The Democratic Debate on CNN last night will keep the pundits popping for a day or two,

More of the same for the week ahead, the war trudges on, posturing politicos and all the misery we have all come to know and hate, will be here to entertain us for another week.

This daily drivel needs a good dose of upliftion, something to give hope, hope that someday we will be beyond the current deluge of neo-fascist crap, and into a peacefull prosperity, time for all those in the cocoons to break out and realize, they are just as screwed as the rest of us, and cannot hide.

Neo-fascism is here and calls for another American Revolution to end it, preferably as soon as possible.

Sunny Sunday

Sunrise from a mountain in Bolivia

I feel safer already after reading this:

A drone aircraft was launched into the smoggy sky over Los Angeles on Friday, bringing technology more commonly associated with combat zones to urban policing.

The unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), which looks like a remote-controlled airplane and weighs about 2.3 kilograms, is a prototype being tested by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Police say the drone, called the SkySeer, could carry out dangerous tasks and free up crewed helicopters for other missions.

"This technology could be used to find missing children, search for lost hikers, or survey a fire zone," says Sid Heal, head of the Technology Exploration Project of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. "The ideal outcome for us is when this technology becomes instrumental in saving lives."

Police say the SkySeer, made by Octatron of Florida, US, could help them catch suspects fleeing on foot and hiding on rooftops. The drone comes equipped with low-light and infrared vision and can fly at speeds of up to 48 kilometres (30 miles) per hour for 70 minutes at a time.

The logic behind this snooping project?

"These days you can't go anywhere without a camera watching you, whether you're in a grocery store or walking down the street."

Well because we are already on candid camera a little more privacy invasion won't matter,
typical Neo-Fascist logic, similar to the "if your not doing anything illegal you won't mind having your phones tapped".

Welcome to Bizzaro World, beyond 1984 several lightyears or so.

Coffee and Donuts

MMMMM! Breakfast of champions!

When I was a young lad, my friend and I would wait for September to roll around and the new cars would be in the showrooms.

We would ride our bikes from dealership to dealership because for that September day every dealer would be serving coffee and donuts in an attempt to entice new car buyers into the showrooms.

Well it was a small town and there was minimal attendance by lookey lou's.

Well we liked cars and donuts so we raided each and every dealer, cleaning up their donuts, because to let get stale would be a travesty in itself. Coffee to wash them down and for once all year we were 'livin large'.

I can still remember the new car smells and the odor of Folgers, ahhhh life was grand!
We were impervious to stomach ills from the sugar overload, we were mighty teenagers after all, virtual eating machines.

Of course we all know now to limit intake of donuts and such, but then that one time during the year, in September, we would feast and browse.

All was good in the world then.

Friday Funnies

Dear Abby,

I am a crack dealer in Beaumont, Texas who has recently been diagnosed
as a carrier of HIV virus. My parents live in Fort Worth. One of my
sisters lives in Pflugerville and is married to a transvestite.

My father and mother have recently been arrested for growing and
selling marijuana. They are financially dependent on my other two
sisters, who are prostitutes in Dallas.

I have two brothers: one is currently serving a non-parole life
sentence at Huntsville for the murder of a teenage boy in 1994. My
other brother is currently in jail awaiting charges of sexual
misconduct with his three children.

I have recently become engaged to marry a former prostitute who lives
in Longview. She is a part time 'working girl'.

All things considered, my problem is this. I love my fiancé and look
forward to bringing her into the family. I certainly want to be totally
open and honest with her.

Should I tell her about my cousin who supports Hillary Clinton for

Birth Control Pill for Grandma

After working most of her life Grandma finally retired. At her next checkup,
the new doctor told her to bring a list of all the medicines that had been
prescribed for her. As the young doctor was looking through these, his eyes
grew wide as he realized she had a prescription for birth control pills.

"Mrs. Smith, do you realize these are BIRTH CONTROL pills?

"Yes, they help me sleep at night."

"Mrs. Smith, I assure you there is absolutely NOTHING in these that could
possibly help you sleep!"

She reached out and patted the young Doctor's knee. "Yes, dear, I know that.
But every morning, I grind one up and mix it in the glass of orange juice that
my 16 year old granddaughter drinks... And believe me, it helps me sleep at night ."

You gotta love Grandmas!

My husband, being unhappy with my mood swings,
bought me a mood ring the other day so he would be
able to monitor my moods.

We've discovered that when I'm in a good mood, it
turns green and when I'm in a bad mood, it leaves a big
frickin' red mark on his forehead.

Maybe next time he'll buy me a diamond!
