I want to thank each and everyone for the great comments, my 'chicks'; Micki, Carol, Carey and Jeanne, the guys, Alan, David B. Benson, Gerald, Hajji, and James Ha, and Anonymous whoever you are.

We are the scattered remains of the Cornblog, a bunch of political misfits forever dedicated to peace and the American way, gathered together railing against the madness that is, today's world.

If you are not all tuckered out after all the vids, I'll meet you in the "Comments"

Plenty of booze, beer, and sodas at the bar, help yourselves to the condiments and horsey-doovers.

Party on!!

Up at the crack of dawn arranging the chairs and tables and setting out the goodies.

Ice! I forgot the ice!

I'll be back in a bit.

DEN said...

OK we got ice, let the party begin!

There once was a blog called Dancing with Fools,
Some of the postings glistened like jewels,
Comment they must,
Parry and thrust,
Den only asked that we play by just rules.

micki said...

Ummmmmm, Den, I hope the air was clear when you shot off all those darned fireworks. And the dogs and cats had earplugs. And no one at the party has asthma. :-)

Happy One Year!

DEN said...

Micki, no party would be complete without an apropos limerick!

Thanks!

Here is a bit of good (anyway, better) news suitable for the First Anniversary!

Army Enlists Anthropology in War Zones

Ahhh, you posted two of my favorites. There's old school and new.I love Pink Floyd and Comfortably Numb is my favorite song of theirs(old school), AND Coldplay is one of my favorite 'new' bands. That song Clocks is my ringtone on my phone because it's one of their best. It was between that and Speed of Sound. I prolly like the song SOS better, but the part offered as a ringtone didn't sound as good as Clocks. I like Greenday alot too, but... for me there wasn't any sound on that youtube. In fact the last 3 didn't have sound. I wonder what's up wif that.
Anyway, congratssss Den. You've done well my friend.

DEN said...

Hey Alan, Greenday works for me, whatupwiththat?

AOL filtering??

I'd like to think that the army got a little smarter and realizes that if anthropologists go out in the field and examine human factors, see the mess, they'll recognize the problem and perhaps - VOILA! - resolve it!

Why are some anthropologists against this idea?

micki said...

Or, if not resolve it, lessen the impact...

Technology isn't everything.

David B. Benson said...

Micki --- By direct observation and also reading, any time two anthropologists are discussing anthropology there are at least three opinons...

DEN said...

Sounds like the Anthropologists are adding a very important ingredient in the madness; intelligence.

The Army is exceedingly stupid.

Now if only they had done that instead of blowing stuff up first....

David B. Benson said...

Alan --- Military intelligence is an oxymoron.

But more, those antrhopologists known as ethnologists, the specialty being employed here, have, over the last 75 years or so, finally learned how to understand a variety of the needs and wisshes of so-called indigeneous peoples.

The Army, of course, is always ready to fight the last war, or sometimes just the one before that...

David B. Benson said...

Oops, Den.

Let's see, where are my reading spectacles? I can't see where I left them...

DEN said...

Time to go play in traffic.

Need more beer.

David B. Benson said...

More beer after playing in traffic.

and only if you play fair...

micki said...

Oh, so anthropology might be called by some a methodologically diverse discipline, and the anthropologists could methodically disagree.

David B. Benson said...

That too, Micki, that too...

DEN said...

I rode my bike home through a hailstorm with marble size hail for about 2 miles, OUCH!!

No Doc I don't drink and then go play in traffic, much more fun at home. I hate trying to do stuff 'on beer'.

David B. Benson said...

Den --- I know you don't. Jus' an attempt at a little humor.

On the First Anniversary is discovered Dark and Bright Sides of Global Warming, by Dr. James Hansen. I'll explain tomorrow how to obtain a copy of the slide show as it is simply too complex to try to post today.

As it is barley-n-hops time for me.

And I don't attempt to post during that!

DEN said...

Micki, say that 3 times real fast!

DEN said...

Hey Doc! It is possible to drink barley and hops and still blog, I'm two B&H's into this one.

So, there was this cartoon in The New Yorker, October 1st issue, page 42.

Three guys are sitting at a bar. The bartender is on the phone, covering the mouthpiece, giving a message to his patrons:

"Charlie won't be here. He's drinking from home today."

Maybe you have to see it to enjoy it, but I laughed out loud!

DEN said...

It's #9

DEN said...

Sorry about the condiment and horsey-doovers shortage, there was a bunch of Girl Scouts through here and they cleaned me out.

Someone busted into the liquor cabinet I had set up and absconded with all the booze, a witness said they thought he looked like Larry Craig.

Oh well, maybe next year.

AOL filtering??

Both Greenday and Neil Young worked for me this time. I dunno what the prob was. It wasn't AOL because I only use AOL for mail...open it, read/reply/set up some to send, then sign off. I use Internet Explorer (Comcast) to come here and all surfing.
Good Greenday song, but it's not my fav. Mine's prolly Boulevard of Broken Dreams.

micki said...

Wow, Den, learn something new everyday here! I didn't know it was possible to see the NYer cartoons on line like that. (re to Den's link #9 above)

Oh, well...I still like subscribing to the mag.

Greenday's Boulevard of Broken Dreams

lyrics:
I walk a lonely road
The only one I that have ever known
Don't know were it goes
But its home and I walk alone

I walk this empty street
On the Blvd. of broken dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk alone

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
Till then I'll walk alone

Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ahhh
Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ahhh

I'm walking down the line
That divides me somewhere in my mind
On the border line of the edge
And where I walk alone

Read between the lines of what's
Fucked up and every things all right
Check my vital signs to know I'm still alive
And I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk a...

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
Till then I'll walk alone

Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ahhh
Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ahhh

I walk this empty street
On the Blvd. of broken dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk a..

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
Till then I'll walk away!

LMAO! (from the General)

You Say Our Feet Bumped
(A Republican Love Song)

Hey, there, I cannot see you
But I imagine you are fine
Anonymous, like a donor
Another loner just killing time
Another loner just killing time

What’s up, Mr. Mystery
Would you like to come and play?
Are you nasty, are you naughty?
With a body that ain’t gay
With a body that ain’t gay, it’s okay

I heard you say our feet bumped
Indeed, I believe they did
I would love to bump again
It’s a sin that should be hid
A sin of love that should be hid

(chorus)
Suppress and deny me
Demean and decry me
Shove me down
Upon the ground
And have your way with me
Suppress your desire
Fight it off, let it expire
The body’s bad
And we are sad
We will burn in the great fire
Everlasting fire

A professional has little time
Always on the go
Little time left for loving
Only shoving on tiles cold
Shoving on tiles so very cold

The mind is like fine china
Smooth, a wonder to behold
When under stress it fractures
Just relax sir, come and go
Relax sir, it’s good to come and go

I heard you say our feet bumped
Indeed, I believe they did
I would love to bump again
It’s a sin that should be hid
A sin of love that should be hid

(chorus)
Suppress and deny me
Demean and decry me
Shove me down
Upon the ground
And have your way with me
Suppress your desire
Fight it off, let it expire
The body’s bad
And we are sad
We will burn in the great fire
Everlasting fire

Hey, there, I cannot see you
But I imagine you are fine
Anonymous, like a donor
Another loner just killing time
Another loner just killing time

What’s up, Mr. Mystery
Would you like to come and play?
Are you nasty, are you naughty?
With a body that ain’t gay
With a body that ain’t gay, it’s okay

I heard you say our feet bumped
Indeed, I believe they did
I would love to bump again
It’s a sin that should be hid
A sin of love that should be hid

(chorus)
Suppress and deny me
Demean and decry me
Shove me down
Upon the ground
And have your way with me
Suppress your desire

Everlasting fire

Hi everybody, and happy anniversary, Den!

Laurel & Hardy! My absolute favorites! I kept three of the VHS cassettes of them when I closed my video store. I don't have this one.

Watching Laurel's face was always my passion when I was a kid. Now, too. I mean WATCH him in the video! A master of his craft.

I'm not going to HTML the link. I just wanted to show you what just cracked me up! THAT'S THE TOP GOOGLE NEWS HEADLINE!!! Bwahahaha. Don't even HAVE to read the article and you can laugh! Ha!

And on THAT note, goodnight. Wonderful day here, in the middle 80s. Totally unseasonal. I'm afraid the other shoe will be dropping at the end of next week. I'm sure no one here in MI is complaining about the heat. Well, I'm sure there are people complaining. *sigh*

WTF?????

So, it turns out that Andrew Moonen gets sent back to the States after the murder of an Iraqi guard, but then he was hired by COMBAT SUPPORT ASSOCIATES??

Great oversight, Condi!

Oh, but wait...Moonen's lawyer has this to say:

"It seems that everyone has convicted my client when he hasn't even been charged with anything," Riley said. "Being drunk, yeah, maybe that's the basis for being fired. But I don't think it's necessarily inappropriate for another defense contractor to hire somebody because theyhappen to be drunk once in their life with some serious consequences."

Serious consequences? Oh...you mean murder?
