FEMA Fumes~~~~~~

Q: Dana, on Tuesday, FEMA's deputy administrator held what was called a news briefing to talk about the California wildfires. And from what we understand, the questions were posed not by reporters, but by staffers, and that distinction was not made known. Is that appropriate?

MS. PERINO: It is not. It is not a practice that we would employ here at the White House or that we -- we certainly don't condone it. We didn't know about it beforehand. FEMA has issued an apology, saying that they had an error in judgment when they were attempting to try to get out a lot of information to reporters, who were asking for answers to a variety of questions in regards to the wildfires in California. It's not something I would have condoned, and they, I'm sure, will not do it again.

Some press secretary this Purino EH? She would lie her way through anything. Guess that is why the chimp put her out front, to lie and deceive the press corpse.

They will not do it again? Translation: OOps we got caught, we won't let that happen again.

Fake reporters (Jeff Gannon). Fake news reports (Armstrong Williams). Fake sourcing for "news" reports (government-funded/produced video news releases). Fake press conferences (FEMA). Fake news outlets (Fox News).

Now we have a fakir fantastique who fronts, publically, for the WH with the title of WH press secretary. The circle is complete. A fake press secretary!

I'm watching one of the hearings you posted for us Den. Guess which?

It's the voting rights rights hearing with John Conyers, on CSPAN 3. John's saying "apparently" his witness has testified that everythings's hunky dory at the voting rights section. Just happy as larks they are. (That's cause the fix is in.)

Conyers is a little irritated to say the least. Love that dedicated guy, don't y'all?

Zogby Poll: 52% Support U.S. Military Strike Against Iran

Most see Clinton as the presidential candidate best equipped to deal with Iran, followed by Giuliani and McCain—but many express uncertainty

A majority of likely voters – 52% – would support a U.S. military strike to prevent Iran from building a nuclear weapon, and 53% believe it is likely that the U.S. will be involved in a military strike against Iran before the next presidential election, a new Zogby America telephone poll shows.

WTF??? Is every one watching FAUX News??

Missed the rest of that hearing. I'm not sure what it was exactly about actually. Apparently the witness, the voting sections chief of Justice, "hurt people" by coming out with a statement that said, in a voter ID debate, minorities die earlier than whites.

The hearing's not worth discussing I venture. I'm not sure what it was about, as I said.

Micksters,

Obama and Hillary tonight. Is it a date? (Are you going to watch?) Hear tell some fireworks are a-coming from Obama. Hillary's response? This should, I hope, be interesting.

The World Series wasn't. My opinion on that has to do with baseball owners and sick capitalism again. What it's done to players' athleticism with the grueling baseball schedules and copious amounts of games is rooted in some of the same motivations as behind-the-scenes covert promotion of drug-taking.

Den,

It's deja vue all over again. Dumb, ignorant, stupid people. Prefer Jerry Sprnger, don't they.

I didn't say that.

Yes I did.

Shoot, I corrected that mispelling of deja vu before I officially posted.

Kucinich questions Bush's mental health

PHILADELPHIA - Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich questioned President Bush's mental health in light of comments he made about a nuclear Iran precipitating World War III.

"I seriously believe we have to start asking questions about his mental health," Kucinich, an Ohio congressman, said in an interview with The Philadelphia Inquirer's editorial board on Tuesday. "There's something wrong. He does not seem to understand his words have real impact."

Kucinich, known for his liberal views, trails far behind the leading candidates in most Democratic polls. He was in Philadelphia for a debate at Drexel University.

Bush made the remarks at a news conference earlier this month.

He said: "I've told people that if you're interested in avoiding World War III, it seems like you ought to be interested in preventing them (Iran) from having the knowledge necessary to make a nuclear weapon."

Kucinich said he doesn't believe his comments about the president's mental health are irresponsible, according to a story posted on the newspaper's Web site.

"You cannot be a president of the United States who's wanton in his expression of violence," Kucinich said. "There's a lot of people who need care. He might be one of them. If there isn't something wrong with him, then there's something wrong with us. This, to me, is a very serious question."

In response, Republican National Committee spokesman Dan Ronayne said it was hard to take Kucinich seriously.

There should be no doubt that Hitler Bush is demented, deranged, and a psycho-maniac. In common language Hitler Bush is crazy.

Fifty-Two Percent

Dear Posters:

In a recent Zogby International poll fifty-two percent of Nazi Americans favor the bombing of Iran. We fail to understand that Nazi America in not threatened by Iran. We will nuke Iran because Nazi America has violence in her history and Nazi Israel runs Nazi America’s foreign policies.

I am truly disheartened because Nazi Americans are too stupid and they will never learn. We hear that Nazi Americans are pro-life. We use words very loosely without any real thought to what their true meanings mean to our souls. Human life to Nazi Americans is meaningless.

We are a nation under the control of bloodthirsty morons. We have lunatics running our asylums. A perfect example of our murderous ways is that American mercenaries are given immunity in the killing of human beings in Iraq and probably in other countries, such as the United States of Evil.

Remember Nazi Americans, if you speak out against Hitler Bush and Hitler Cheney, American mercenaries can murder you and they will receive immunity. Yes, human life to Nazi Americans means nothing. Nazi America is not pro-life and pro-love. NAZI AMERICA IS PRO-DEATH AND PRO-HATRED.

Sincerely,
Gerald

Busy Bush Has Time to Run the World
by Sheldon Richman, October 29, 2007

President Bush has been a busy man. Even though the quagmire in Iraq threatens to worsen as Turkey prepares to invade the Kurdish north, Bush has time to undertake the arduous task of preventing World War III and begin the transition to democracy in Cuba. How does he do it?!

The president is on a sticky wicket in northern Iraq. The Kurds have longed to unite with their brethren in Turkey, Iran, and Syria to form independent Kurdistan. The big powers, the United States included, have never been crazy about the idea. But that hasn’t stopped American presidents from posing as champions of their cause — until it’s inconvenient. That’s what it is now.

Turkey is an “important ally,” as big powers like to say. For one thing, it’s been a member of NATO almost from the beginning. The “NA” stand for “North Atlantic,” and the last time I checked a map, Turkey was nowhere near the Atlantic Ocean. But never mind that; it’s an important ally that gives the U.S. military easy access to Iraq and other parts of the Middle East. No country that useful should be alienated. That’s why the Bush administration opposed the resolution in the House labeling Turkey’s slaughter of Armenians as “genocide” — in 1915! You’ve got to hand it to the House. It sure stays on top of things.

Anyway, the Kurds have been assaulting Turkish troops across their border, and the Turkish legislature has okayed an invasion of Iraq, warning Bush he’d better tame the unruly Kurds or else. You can bet that administration people are working overtime on that project. On the other hand, the Iranian government has complained that the Kurds are attacking their forces too. But I suspect that complaint is getting a much less sympathetic hearing.

Which brings us to World War III. President Bush raised the specter of another Great War during a news conference: “We’ve got a leader in Iran who has announced that he wants to destroy Israel. So I’ve told people that, if you’re interested in avoiding World War III, it seems like you ought to be interested in preventing them from having the knowledge necessary to make a nuclear weapon.”

Whoa! Let’s slow down. Bush wants to leave the impression that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad wants to attack Israel with nukes. Although he said he’d like that state to disappear, he’s never threatened Israel. He’s not that crazy. Israel has been a nuclear monopolist in the Middle East since the 1960s. And it should be noted that Ahmadinejad is not the actual leader of Iran. In that country the president is not the head of state or leader of the armed forces.

More fundamentally, why is Bush linking Iran’s attitude toward Israel and World War III? Is he saying he would plunge the world into war if Iran attacks Israel? Isn’t that a little — well, ridiculous?

At any rate, it’s far more likely that the Iranian government wants a nuclear weapon to deter the U.S. government from attacking it. A bomb would have little offensive value, but it might keep the U.S. away. That seems like a reasonable calculation, but it’s not one Bush wants the American people to see. While I don’t think he has decided to attack Iran (yet), he has a political interest in keeping us agitated so that the option will be available if he decides to go ahead. Re-read what he and his people were saying about Iraq before the 2003 invasion and you’ll see what’s going on.

Needless to say, an attack on Iran would kill many innocents, further jeopardize U.S. troops in Iraq, and light a fuse in the entire region. No stupider idea has ever been proposed by an American president. And note that Bush is out to prevent Iran from even learning how to make a weapon.

But Bush has things well in hand — so well that he has time to lecture Castro about who should succeed him when he dies. As if that were any of his business.

Senator Leahy, we have a problem...

If Mukasey doesn't expressly and unequivocally declare waterboarding illegal, he HAS to be rejected by the Judiciary Committee. Fini. Caput. Toast.

But, if he does say it's illegal, could he be giving a legal judgement on those who have authorized waterboarding or used it as an interrogation tactic?

Oh, the tangled webs we weave when we practice to deceive. (Sir Walter Raleigh? Or was it Sir Walter Scott?)

Well, too effin' bad for the waterboarders and their enablers.

Call/email your Senators but especially the Judiciary Committee and TELL THEM TO REJECT MUKASEY!

micki said...

I just sent this letter to my Senators...please consider sending a version to your Senators. Please!!!!!!!

Dear Senators Murray and Cantwell:

It's time to take a principled stand. Get out-front on Michael Mukasey.

If Mukasey doesn't expressly and unequivocally declare waterboarding illegal, he HAS to be rejected by the Judiciary Committee. Fini. Kaput. Toast.

It is up to you, as my elected official in the Senate, to take a principled stand now on whether or not to continue the confirmation process on Michael Mukasey. This man has dodged answering a critical question -- he does not deserve the courtesy of a vote in the Senate. Tell Patrick Leahy to stop this process and vote NO in Committee on his confirmation.

Are you and your colleagues so afraid that if he does say it's illegal, he could be giving a legal judgment on those who have authorized waterboarding or used it as an interrogation tactic?

Why should you protect those who have authorized waterboarding or used it in interrogations? Why?

Oh, the tangled webs we weave when we practice to deceive.

Show us that the Democratic Party is the party that lives by -- and respects -- our nation's laws. Thank you.
