Sunny Sunday

Peter Max lithograph, “Sunrise”, 1976

Al Jazeera has the rundown on Pakistan.

The vicious rumor has resurfaced regarding the false flag/ Enterprise threat.
As you all know I went over this possibility some time back. It seems to me if you bring this stuff up, it would deter those that might have that very thought in mind by revealing the possibility of it occurring, someone actually might know what they are up to. Exposing these people for what they are, our own home grown terrorists, can only keep the world a safer place.

We fight and we fight, when we know it is not right, yet to prove our might we continue to fight.

Fools indeed.

Sun is up, sky is bright, hope you turned your clocks back last night.

Mushy is one clever dude -- quoting Lincoln!

The general, dressed in civilian clothes, quoted Lincoln, citing the former president’s suspension of some rights during the American Civil War as justification for his own state of emergency.

State of emergency? I love those euphemisms!

Of course he meant martial law.

Clocks turned back. Next year I'm not going on daylight time. :-)

He might be right you know.

We only know what the news tells us.

Truth is more precious than gold.

Emergency?

For him. Of course.

State-run news.

His "version" of the news. He shut the independents down.

Of course he meant martial law.

Yeah, all the articles I've seen say emergency powers, when thinking people can see it's martial law. It sure puts bushco in a bind, no? What does that do to his stated goals of fostering democracy in the Middle East, when he's actually in bed with another military dictator. No amount of spin will wash that stain off. The fkn pukes!

Damn, I couldn't find it anywhere on the H-town Chronicle's web site... musta hit a nerve, too truthful and all that... but there's a good article in today's Outlook section (op-ed, and letters), titled : This Texas Republican has had it up to here. It starts off explaining how he's always been a good republican and giving examples. Then it gets to Tom Delay, the Iraq War, and how his devotion went downhill from there. I don't agree with some of what he writes, especially about the partisan fighting. Dems HAVE TO FIGHT to get back all our country has lost from these republican pukes. Still, he's turned his back on the 'gay ol party' and I wish he'd tuck another republican under each arm... and maybe his article will turn others... and THAT'S why the paper's web site didn't publish it.

Carey --- Here is the proof that matters are worse than even IPCC's worst BAU scenario:

Carbon Cycle Misfortunes

So serious (and expensive) action needs to be taken. Now.

(I'll post about what action sometime soon.)

Carey, I'm now watching the end of the Texans' game in my computer room while keeping up with the BIG game online at nfl.com.
K, about Al Davis (Oakland Raiders owner for you other folks that dunno), the only time I didn't like him is when he moved the Raiders to LA. As for his 'wars' with the good ol' boys club of team owners... I was mostly on his side. More power for him for bucking the system. Also, I liked the way he could take other teams' outcasts and make great players out of 'em. If he rubbed some people the wrong way while doing his own thing... that's just too bad, ya know?

Patriots with the ball, down by 3, with less than 4 minutes left. Damn I wish I could see that game!

Alan said...

Patriots touchdown, and they go up by 4... 24 - 20.

K, the Texans' game is over and CBS shifted over to the Patriots game. Looks like they went into Indy and got a win.

What to write to Senator Schumer:

Waterboarding Justice

Give a piece of your mind to Feinstein as well...

micki said...

Dr. B -- I agree with Katrina vanden Heuvel that we should give Schumer and Feinstein a piece of our mind -- but I think she doesn't go far enough.

I think that the presidential candidates in the Senate who have said they'd vote NO is just not enough!

I sent this letter this morning to Hillary Clinton -- and a version to Barack Obama and Chris Dodd:

Dear Senator Clinton:

I was awake half the night thinking about the lack of presidential-level leadership on even attempting to stop Michael Mukasey's nomination. It should not be necessary to say that waterboarding is an unmitigated evil, yet NOT ONE of the presidential candidates has mastered the simple truth that allowing Mukasey's nomination to move forward without an OUT AND OUT fight says a lot about what type of leadership they would provide.

Mukasey has chosen to parse words and lie to Congress and to the American people (according to Jonathan Turley, who should know). Stating that you will vote against his nomination is not enough. Our country is in a state of malaise of despair and cynicism because of the Bush years.

I see a backbone-stiffening fight against the Mukasey nomination as an opportunity for you to repair some of the damage done through the Bush years -- to show the American people that you'd be a president to take moral, principled stands on problems and issues.

That the current crop of politicians -- Democrats and Republicans -- do not seem to recognize that our government has been perverted in the last seven years means something is lacking in their education. How clueless does a presidential contender have to be to not recognize that a fight against the Mukasey nomination is the right thing to do?

Hillary, you say you're a strong woman, a strong candidate. Well, show us! Fight like hell against Mukasey. If you don't, I will see that your alleged strength, your alleged moral leadership is a mirage -- illusory and unattainable. This is a fight worth fighting -- even if you lose it, it's a gain.

Please fight for the people you claim to care about and claim to want to lead. I'm watching and waiting...

Sincerely,
