Pope Benedict Solves Mystery of Pedophile Priests . . . Sort of

by Robert Weitzel

http://www.opednews.com

For twenty-four years the archconservative, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, was the prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith—formerly the Holy Office of the Inquisition. As the Vatican’s doctrinal watchdog, he earned the monikers, “God’s Rottweiler” and “panzer cardinal.” It was his job to enforce doctrinal purity, both within the clerical rank and the rank and file . . . a task he performed with an apostolic zeal bordering on mania.

In 2002, when the scope of the pedophile priest scandal in the United States was becoming too obvious for even the Vatican to continue to ignore, Rottweiler Ratzinger claimed that the sexual abuse allegations against Catholic clergy were part of a "planned campaign" that was "intentional [and] manipulated" to discredit the church. Whose campaign he didn’t say, but his short list probably included the pro-choice and gay rights lobbies.

On April 19, 2005, in an arcane rite of “transubstantiation” known only to the College of Cardinals, the rabid Rottweiler Ratzinger became, with a puff of white smoke, the kindly, thoughtful Pope Benedict XVI, the 265th Bishop of Rome and leader of one billion Catholics worldwide.

During Benedict’s million-dollar-a-day junket to the United States, a trip that the Vatican admits is a P.R. opportunity to change a German Rottweiler into an American Golden Retriever, the mystery of pedophile priests was cleared up . . . sort of.

Note the Rebel flag in the picture. WTF?

Den -- Mississippi's state flag has the Stars and Bars in the canton. His Popeness and His Presidencyness were staged in front of a bank of the 50 state flags.

FDR said what his speachwriter wrote. The playwright Robert Sherwood was FDR's speachwriter. (Unless he had more than one.) Anyway, Robert Sherwood did the 'fireside chats'.

The second quote is attributed to Loius Brandeis.

Doing well, just have to do better in reminding everybody, frequently, of these two important quotes.

Working with speechwriters Samuel Rosenman and Robert Sherwood in 1940, FDR collaborated on a speech that used `I see' to frame an inspiring vision:  `I see an America where factory workers are not discarded after they reach their prime.  ...  I see an America whose rivers and valleys and lakes ...  are protected as the rightful heritage of all the people.  ... I see an America devoted to our freedom.'

Hmmmmmm...now I wonder which (both?) is credited with that quote. Do you know Dr. B? You've piqued my curiosity.

Whoever wrote it -- it's powerful! And worth remembering, you're right.

All the president's words

Rosenman is credited with crafting the words "New Deal" -- this article also states that Harry Hopkins was involved in FDR's speechwriting, along with others whose names don't ring a bell with me.

Benedict’s kindness toward the strays of Rome is already the stuff of Vatican legend. His house in Germany, its garden guarded by a cat statue, was filled with cats when Benedict lived there full time before he was posted to the Vatican in 1982.

And Benedict is, without a doubt, the first pope to have had an authorized biography of him written by a cat — Chico, a ginger tabby who lives across the road from Benedict’s old house in Germany.

“I think it shows a sensitive side, and I believe it shows that God lives in a person,” Ms. Fredericks said Friday. “I think all leaders should have compassion for animals.”

When the pope arrived at Yankee Stadium on Sunday, Ms. Fredericks and some members of the group were there, handing out about 300 copies of a pamphlet called “Are We Good Stewards of God’s Creation?” (Also represented outside the stadium was People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, which wants Benedict to follow up on some scathing criticisms of factory farming he made when he was Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger.)

Also @ TNYT

With a name like Rat-zinger I would expect such.

Too bad he does not share the same concern about pedophile priests victims.

Ratzinger is a step backwards in time--that's why they chose him. He is suuuuuch bad news for Catholics--he's downright mean-spirited, parochial and underhanded. This trip was apalling in its organization and real intent. I was rather stunned at all the showmanship. What an asshole. What an asshole organization.

Michael Moore Endorses Obama and His Movement

No one on the left mounted more defenses of Hillary Clinton over the
years than filmmaker Michael Moore -- who devoted a chapter of one of his
books to singing her praises. In his recent film "Sicko," he may have
criticized the former First Lady's stumbles on health care, but he
still displayed a warmth for the senator from New York -- describing her as
he frequently has as: "Sassy. Smart. Sexy."

But the flirtation is finished.

Now, even Moore is disgusted with the way in which the Clinton
campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination has progressed.

Here's Moore's endorsement of Barack Obama from his website:

Over the past two months, the actions and words of Hillary Clinton
have gone from being merely disappointing to downright disgusting. I
guess the debate last week was the final straw. I've watched Senator
Clinton and her husband play this game of appealing to the worst
side
of white people, but last Wednesday, when she hurled the name
"Farrakhan" out of nowhere, well that's when the silly season came
to
an early end for me. She said the "F" word to scare white people,
pure and simple. Of course, Obama has no connection to Farrakhan.
But, according to Senator Clinton, Obama's pastor does -- AND the
"church bulletin" once included a Los Angeles Times op-ed from some
guy with Hamas! No, not the church bulletin!

This sleazy attempt to smear Obama was brilliantly explained the
following night by Stephen Colbert. He pointed out that if Obama is
supported by Ted Kennedy, who is Catholic, and the Catholic Church
is
led by a Pope who was in the Hitler Youth, that can mean only one
thing: OBAMA LOVES HITLER!

Yes, Senator Clinton, that's how you sounded. Like you were nuts.
Like you were a bigot stoking the fires of stupidity. How sad that I
would ever have to write those words about you. You have devoted
your
life to good causes and good deeds. And now to throw it all away for
an office you can't win unless you smear the black man so much that
the superdelegates cry "Uncle (Tom)" and give it all to you.

But that can't happen. You cast your die when you voted to start
this
bloody war. When you did that you were like Moses who lost it for a
moment and, because of that, was prohibited from entering the
Promised Land.

How sad for a country that wanted to see the first woman elected to
the White House. That day will come -- but it won't be you. We'll
have to wait for the current Democratic governor of Kansas to run in
2016 (you read it here first!).

There are those who say Obama isn't ready, or he's voted wrong on
this or that. But that's looking at the trees and not the forest.
What we are witnessing is not just a candidate but a profound,
massive public movement for change. My endorsement is more for Obama
The Movement than it is for Obama the candidate.

That is not to take anything away from this exceptional man. But
what's going on is bigger than him at this point, and that's a good
thing for the country. Because, when he wins in November, that Obama
Movement is going to have to stay alert and active. Corporate
America
is not going to give up their hold on our government just because we
say so. President Obama is going to need a nation of millions to stand behind him.

I remember a story about pedophiles in the Catholic church. St John's in MN had a place where victims could go to have counseling. The only problem was that the head counselor was one of the pedophiles they had to dump from a parish. He'd been through counseling you see and he understood.
Yeah...

Carey, did you read the whole article?

Check out this graf towards the end...

Finally, I want to say a word about the basic decency I have seen in Mr. Obama. Mrs. Clinton continues to throw the Rev. Wright up in his face as part of her mission to keep stoking the fears of White America. Every time she does this I shout at the TV, "Say it, Obama! Say that when she and her husband were having marital difficulties regarding Monica Lewinsky, who did she and Bill bring to the White House for 'spiritual counseling?' THE REVEREND JEREMIAH WRIGHT!"

Alan said...

Obama's appearance on Jon Stewart:

Stewart: Will you pull a bait-and-switch, sir, and enslave the white race. Is that your plan? And if it is your plan, be honest, tell us now!

Obama: That is not our plan, Jon, but I think your paranoia might make you suitable as a debate moderator.

micki said...

If that photo at the prayer breakfast, which, coincidentally, was dug up by the Obama campaign and hightailed to the New York Times back in March when the Wright flap was really flapping, is the "proof" that Bill Clinton called on Wright as a spiritual advisor, it's damned flimsy stuff.

That snapshot is the result of a typical "photo op" that is offered to attendees at countless gatherings at the White House and other venues. Get real.

But, even if it is factual (for which no proof has been provided) that Bill Clinton called on Wright as his spiritual advisor, then it speaks volumes of Wright's questionable character. Why? Because if Wright had been Bill's spiritual counselor and then used his bully pulpit to degrade him to his flock, rant against him, and belittle him, what does that say about the "preacher's" moral clarity and basic trustworthiness?

micki said...

Oh, and BTW, Michael Moore played the cheapest trick in the book with this:

"Every time she does this I shout at the TV, "Say it, Obama! Say that when she and her husband were having marital difficulties regarding Monica Lewinsky, who did she and Bill bring to the White House for 'spiritual counseling?'

But no, Obama won't throw that at her. It wouldn't be right. It wouldn't be decent."

Moore is careful not to claim it's a fact. He plants the idea (rumor) in the "minds" of his intended target, and leaves it up to them to "decide." You know, much like the Fox News model.

I thought Moore had more sense.
