Big Boost

><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><

My choice was Edwards for Prez. but the MSM turned that into dust and it blew away.

To many choices are not ours to make. The American people act after what they perceive in the media infests their simple little minds. So when the MSM speaks everyone listens and soaks it up like little sponges and burps it back up as a vote in the election.

Daily I catch the local NBC station here making grossly inaccurate statements about the election to curry favor on the right, which incidentally is very wrong.

"Obama has a slim lead over Clinton" for example, BS! The people who depend on the news to tell the truth are not getting it, they are getting a 'doubtful about Obama' slant. Choice of words can be devastatingly effective at forming opinions in people to inept enough to seek out real answers.

Anyway I am glad Edwards finally got off the dime and threw his support to BIG O.

Now the real mud slinging begins with racists-O-plenty coming out of the woodwork showing me that the people in this country still have a lot to learn about equal rights for all.

Racism is retardation and those that spew such hatred are psychologically retarded and have no place in a civilized society.

Watch the video.

No, Saladin, water vapor is about 50% of the global warming effect of various trace gases.

Of course, you could actually study "The Discovery of Global Warming" by Spencer Weart:

Israeli forces destroy fruit trees and greenhouses in southern Gaza Strip
Palestine News Network

May 13, 2008

Khan Younis / PNN – Israeli forces destroyed green houses, farms, fruit trees and land in the southern Gaza Strip’s Khan Younis area throughout the night.

The Mayor of the eastern town of Khoza’, Sheikh Kamal Najjar, reported that "the bulldozers and tanks of the Israeli occupation penetrated the eastern side of town which exploded with destruction on Tuesday. They washed away more than 500 dunams of land belonging to our citizens."

Mayor Najjar explained that farmers experienced heavy losses as Israeli forces dug up their lands closest to the boundary near the Israeli military encampments. "This is 400 meters away and their intention is a scheme to erase all manifestations of life from these areas."

The head of the municipality estimated losses of farmers since the start of the Israeli bulldozing campaign in the area at one million US dollars, saying that the eastern regions of the Gaza Strip are plagued by this, particularly Khoza’. He called on all media to visit the region and "transfer the message to the world."

Mayor Najjar said that the bulldozers, which withdrew this morning, washed away nearly 30 acres of greenhouses and 200 acres planted with olive trees and fruit, five poultry farms, in addition to dozens of acres planted with wheat, barley and other crops.

He called on the Palestinian government and relevant institutions to work to compensate "those affected by this Israeli policy which aims to inflict a heavy toll, since agriculture is the sole source of livelihood."

Several bulldozers and tanks penetrated beginning during the late hours of Monday, coming from eastern Khoza’s Abu Redah Gate. They began razing trees and destroying greenhouses, farms and uprooting trees immediately. The devastation reigned throughout the night until the Israeli forces withdrew Tuesday morning.

Eyewitnesses confirmed that the destroyed land and property belongs to the Abu Tiam, Abu Duka, Qudeih, Omeish and Radwan families.

The mayor added that Israeli forces bulldozed another large area 500 meters into the Strip on their way out.

Hail Israel, you have purchased for yourselves, with American tax dollars, the very best and loyal to Israel congress money can buy! As Clinton adviser Ann Lewis proclaimed, "The role of the president of the United States is to support the decisions that are made by the people of Israel." If Israel wants to bring a Shoah down on Palestine you will support and finance it, and LIKE it!

California Supreme Court Legalizes Gay Marriage, Strikes Ban

By Karen Gullo

May 15 (Bloomberg) -- Homosexual couples in California have the right to marry, the state's highest court ruled, striking down laws barring same-sex nuptials and making the most populous state the second after Massachusetts to legalize gay weddings.

Today's ruling is a victory for gay rights groups and San Francisco, which in 2004 issued marriage licenses to almost 4,000 same-sex couples before being ordered to stop. Supporters of the ban have said they would propose a state constitutional amendment barring gay marriage if the court struck down the ban.

The ruling may reverberate in the U.S. presidential race in favor of the presumptive Republican nominee, Senator John McCain of Arizona. It will force candidates to explain their positions on same-sex unions, said Vikram Amar, a constitutional law professor at the University of California at Davis.

``It's hard to see how this will end up helping Democrats,'' Amar said before the ruling. ``It feeds into a kind of perception that this is what liberal activist judges do.''

Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama oppose same-sex marriage while supporting civil unions. McCain opposes gay marriage.

California has at least 92,000 same-sex couples, more than any other state, according to U.S. Census Bureau figures. In 2000, 61 percent of California voters supported a ballot initiative defining marriage as between a man and woman.

The lawsuits decided today were filed after San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom in 2004 ordered city officials to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples in defiance of state laws that he said discriminated against homosexuals.

I know "Made in China" has a nasty ring to it, but if this car was a decent vehicle, at an affordable price, did what the honchos claim it's supposed to do, and distributed around the world, wouldn't that be a good thing if it displaced a lot of the big, gas-guzzling, road-hogging, infrastructure-damaging polluters?

About that Cali Supreme Court Ruling...YEA!!!!!!!!!!

It's a reasonable ruling, as far as I can tell. There is no wrong time for doing the right thing when it comes to equal rights.

With that said, I have seen numerous comments at some of the self-proclaimed liberal, progressive blogs and I am disgusted!

I read some comments that I'm ashamed are from people who call themselves progressives -- they are UPSET about the "inconvenient" timing of this decision because they think it'll hurt Obama's chances in November!

They should be celebrating this ruling, instead of pissing and moaning about Obama's chances being dimmed.

Besides, I think that's BS. If the guy's chances are diminished because of this, what does that say about his CHANGE message?

My friend Mark has his drag racer made over there and they are very nice, of course you can not repair them as they are a single part welded together.

I like American products and American labor. Sort of a thing of the past today. You never have to send off shore for repair parts, and training for repair work is in country.

I have been a member of the Internation Association of Machinists and Aerospace workers since 1976 and know in order to build stuff that lasts and not throw away junk (conserving resources by not needing replacement every couple of years) you need to build it right the first time, have people trained to assemble it, trained to repair it, and a recycling program.

Why does that sound eerily similar to the war on drugs, crime and poverty, all of which have grown exponentially worse since the govt. has declared war on them? We don't have a resource shortage, we have an intelligence shortage.
Mr. Benson, here lies another reason Israel is so freakin happy, gosh, when you're responsible for this, who wouldn't be?

350 Palestinian children are suffering inside Israeli prisons
http://uruknet.info/?p=m43990&hd=&size=1&l=e

May 12, 2008

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Support and Human Rights Centre ADDAMEER, declared that the Israeli Zionist forces have arrested almost 6200 Palestinians since the last Intifada started in September of 2000. 350 of those languishing in prison are children who, against international conventions, are still imprisoned in Israeli jails and detention centers.

Those youngsters undergo severe punishment and mental stress, living an extremely horrifying health and mental situation. Being subjected to torture, interrogation, beatings, humiliation, insults, degradation, and regular terrorizing, "such conditions will affect their mental well being forever, and will accompany them through their adult life," the report said.

The report published by the Palestinian centre on Friday 9 May 2008 revealed that hundreds of children were arrested while they were quite young, and detained in prisons. Some of them are now over 18 and still are imprisoned.

The Zionist occupation is enforcing military rule in those prisons, thus they consider a Palestinian child of 16 as an adult. They are willingly depriving them of their rights as children according to International agreements. According to international law, minors should be protected whilst detained.

350 prisoners are females, 20 are young Palestinian girls. Some children were born inside the Israeli prisons, and they are experiencing health problems. Mothers experience extremely difficult mental depression being subjected to humiliation, having to give birth while being chained by the wrists and feet. Such inhumane treatment is a clear breach of human rights.

Newborn babies are still in Israeli prisons, an example is 3-month-old Yosif Alziq, the child of the prisoner Fatima Alziq from the Shujayyeah neighborhood in Gaza. Another example is Noor, the child borne to the prisoner Manal Ghanem from Tolkarem camp; she was imprisoned while she was pregnant, and gave birth inside the prison in an extremely difficult situation.

The prisoner Khawla Zitawi also gave birth to her little girl Ghada inside the Israeli prison, and they are still imprisoned.

The freed prisoner Samar Subaih has delivered her son Bara’a inside the prison while her hands and feet were chained. Mervat Taha is another Palestinian mother who gave birth to her son Wael inside the prison.

The children are kept in an overcrowded place that is unsuitable for human living. Their needs are not provided for. The rights of imprisoned children are breached by Israeli forces according to all laws and international agreements for that matter, especially breast fed babies and toddlers.

Children prisoners are subjected to torture and investigations
The young Palestinian children are subjected to torture and investigations inside Zionist jails like Ofer, Megiddo, Etzion, the Negev, Jalama, Petah Tikva, and Ashkelon.

The children inside the prisons are not safe, as this torture is both physical and psychological. Their living circumstances are difficult and they cannot grow in serenity, as the frustration they experience is constant. The cells where they are kept are less than 1 meter x 1.5 meters in dimensions. Chained by their hands and feet and blindfolded, they are not provided with mattresses or covers. Living in the darkness, they are deprived of sunlight. The children suffer the humidity and lack of ventilation, except for a small hole used to provide them through it with small quantities of food.

Torturing children
The interrogation of children begins after 3 days of detention. Upon the 3rd day, the child is deprived of all human necessities, besides being subjected to lengthy, successive, repeated sessions of interrogations. At such times the child is deprived of his right to sleep and is prohibited from using the toilet for long periods.

The study reveals that the children complained that they were subjected to pressures and negotiations to offer them relief in return of their cooperation and becoming their spies. Some children confessed they have already given in and just done that. They were told if they would not cooperate and become their spy, they would remain in prison forever.

Palestinian children in Israeli prisons in numbers
105 are younger than 15
322 are from the West Bank
22 are from Jerusalem
6 are from Gaza
156 have been convicted
187 are waiting for a trial
7 are under 'administrative detention’ - contradicting all laws and international agreements.
80 are very sick and are in need of medical treatment

Beatings, intimidation and organized terrorism against Palestinian children
The imprisoned Palestinian children have suffered greatly from beatings during arrests and investigations. Most children have been arrested from their homes in the middle of the night. The armed forces of the Zionist occupation use terrorist methods such as police dogs and other terrorizing methods are used to raise the children’s fear and cause their parents to panic, not to mention the huge number of insults received by the child during the arrest.

The children are blindfolded during the arrests, their hands and feet are tied. And according to testimonies of detained children themselves, they were also kicked, slapped on their faces, beaten repeatedly by soldiers, and sometimes hit by the soldiers’ rifles while being pushed inside the military cars.

Terrorizing the children during investigation is a breach of their human rights. The parents reported that their children were handcuffed, crouching down in the cold for many hours waiting to be interrogated, thus weakening their morale. Sometimes they are kept in solitary confinement to put the child under mental pressure. Children were beaten up at different stages of interrogation, slapped on their faces by the interrogator, deprived of food and drink for periods of 12 hours. The guards were swearing at them, cursing them, and preventing them from using the toilet, or from changing their clothes for days.

Some children were terrorized by being threatened to be sexually attacked and some were touched in an inappropriate way. Such acts are a direct insult and clear harm to their innocence. Some physicians said that some of those children will never recover from what they have been subjected to. Especially some of them witnessed the beatings of their family members, and others witnessed the humiliation of their parents in their own homes by the soldiers.

Women prisoners chained while giving birth? Babies and toddlers held behind bars? They must be a serious terrorist threat, eh? VIVA ISRAEL!
